900+ delegates from associations, private practice, government funded programs and academia came together to learn from one another and share best practices at Cannexus, Canada’s largest professional conference for career practitioners. Cannexus17, for me, was all about collaboration; sharing and learning about the latest innovations in our industry so we can take top strategies back to our clients and integrate them into our practice.
Why attend a Conference? What’s the value?
Connection: Career Professionals have a network and a community based on strong relationships. We connect with our clients, our profession, and our economy on a daily basis. We strive to bring the three into alignment. We welcome collaboration across organizations and cross-refer clients and resources to ensure the highest quality outcomes for clients.
Authenticity: We are committed to excellence. Networking with like-minded, dedicated professionals that week was invigorating. One cannot help but want to talk with every person in the room because each is devoted to supporting our collective communities. We came from, serve and specialize in different areas – aboriginal, academic, culture, gender, language, race, religious, retired, sexuality, socio-economic, youth – and yet we share a common directive: help those in need and distress to find a way forward regardless of the barriers they might face.
Excellence: We are proud of the work we do to help Canadians across our country. We are making a positive impact on the state of our nation. We seek to find solutions and resources to tough issues facing our clients. We work tirelessly to serve our clients and provide meaningful reports to funders to ensure the continuation of our programs, research, and services.
As the career practitioner community continues to expand, the foundation that Career Professionals of Canada, CERIC, and the Cannexus conference has worked so hard to establish will position, and support our profession and our clients well into the future. As the expression goes: “A rising tide lifts all boats.”
